Social media updates for Meta

  • Meta Releases Ad Measurement Guide for Campaign Optimization: Meta has unveiled a comprehensive guide titled “Measuring Ad Effectiveness,” aimed at helping advertisers optimize their Facebook and Instagram campaigns through effective measurement. The guide outlines essential questions to consider when assessing ad performance and categorizes measurement options into four categories: attribution solutions, experiments, modeling, and custom analytics. This resource is designed to enhance understanding of ad measurement tools, ensuring businesses can track their campaign success effectively.

  • Meta Introduces Opportunity Score for Ad Performance: Meta is highlighting its “Opportunity Score” metric in Ads Manager, providing advertisers with a 0-100 point summary of how well their campaigns are set up to maximize performance. This score offers real-time feedback and actionable recommendations to improve ad effectiveness, with advertisers seeing a median decrease in costs when they follow these suggestions. The Opportunity Score is part of Meta's ongoing efforts to enhance ad performance and will soon be available to more users.

  • Meta Receives Approval for AI Data Usage in the EU: The Irish Data Protection Commission has approved Meta’s updated approach to using EU user data for training its AI models, clearing a significant hurdle for the company. This approval follows extensive discussions with European authorities and includes new measures to protect individual data rights, such as an updated objection form for users. Meta plans to start incorporating this data into its AI systems, emphasizing the importance of regional insights for developing relevant AI experiences.

Social media updates for LinkedIn

  • LinkedIn Removes Custom Profile Links for Most Users: LinkedIn has removed the ability to add custom URL links to user profiles unless you're a Premium Business, Sales Navigator, or Recruiter subscriber. Existing links remain but can't be updated, and once deleted, the feature is gone for good. LinkedIn says it's re-prioritizing features that deliver the most value, possibly due to low engagement or concerns over spammy or inappropriate links.

  • LinkedIn Rolls Out Enhanced Post Analytics for All Users: LinkedIn has introduced new analytics features for posts, including data on profile visits, new followers driven by individual posts, and clicks on Premium custom CTA buttons. These insights aim to help users better understand the tangible outcomes of their content beyond traditional metrics like likes and views. The update is available to all members and strengthens LinkedIn's position as a results-focused professional platform.

  • LinkedIn Launches' Top Job' Labels to Help Candidates Stand Out: LinkedIn has introduced a new feature that labels certain job applications as "Top Applicant" to indicate strong alignment with a role based on your profile and skills. This could boost applicant visibility and increase employer engagement, especially in competitive markets. The feature is part of LinkedIn's ongoing enhancements to improve job seeker tools and employer insights.

Social media updates for Instagram

  • Instagram Adds New DM Features to Enhance Messaging: Instagram has introduced several updates to its direct messaging (DM) features, reflecting the growing use of DMs within the app. Notably, users can now access text transcriptions of voice messages, making it easier to engage with content in various environments. Additionally, the maximum length of audio clips in DMs has been increased from one minute to five minutes, along with a new "Follow All" option in group chats to streamline connections.

  • Guidance for Creators Switching Up Content on Instagram: Instagram chief Adam Mosseri advises creators to carefully transition their content approach rather than starting new accounts, as maintaining engagement is crucial. He suggests informing followers about changes and archiving old content to prevent confusion while exploring new styles. Mosseri emphasizes that keeping an established account allows creators to retain their audience insights and engagement metrics, which can be beneficial for growth.

  • Instagram Launches Lockable Reels for Exclusive Content: Instagram has officially launched its lockable Reels feature, allowing creators to restrict access to their content with a secret code. This feature aims to help creators build excitement around exclusive content and cater to specific audience segments, such as superfans. While currently in testing, it offers potential for brands to engage customers with targeted promotions or updates, enhancing user interaction on the platform.

Social media updates for Pinterest

  • Pinterest Enhances Visual Search for Better Discovery: Pinterest is rolling out new visual search features designed to improve product discovery by allowing users to interact with image Pins more intuitively. Users can now refine their searches based on specific elements of an image, such as color or style, making it easier to find products that match their personal tastes. This update aims to enhance the overall shopping experience on the platform, starting with women’s fashion content.

  • Pinterest Addresses Account Suspension Issues: Pinterest has acknowledged user complaints regarding incorrect account suspensions, attributing the errors to an over-enforcement of its rules against adult content. The company clarified that these suspensions were not due to AI moderation but rather an expanded effort to detect problematic content. Pinterest is working to reinstate affected accounts and improve its moderation processes to prevent similar issues in the future.

  • Pinterest Partners with New York Liberty to Boost Sports Engagement: Pinterest has announced its first sports partnership with the 2024 WNBA Champion, New York Liberty, aiming to celebrate women’s sports through exclusive content and community initiatives. The partnership capitalizes on the rising interest in the Liberty and the WNBA, with significant increases in related searches on the platform. Pinterest will also collaborate with the Liberty on initiatives like National Girls and Women in Sports Day and refurbishing local basketball courts.

Social media updates for X (Twitter)

  • X Launches Beta Version of "X Chat" for Secure Messaging: X has launched the beta version of "X Chat," aiming to overhaul its DM system with privacy enhancements like encryption and a required four-digit access code. These changes are part of Elon Musk's broader vision to transform X into an "everything app" modeled after China's WeChat, integrating messaging, payments, and savings. However, Western markets have historically resisted such integration, and X faces regulatory and adoption hurdles, especially as user numbers continue to decline.

  • X Temporarily Disables Encrypted DMs Amid Backend Upgrades: X has paused encrypted DMs while it works on backend improvements to support a more advanced, chat-like interface that includes new features like file sharing, unlock codes, and vanishing mode. The suspension is temporary, as Elon Musk has emphasized that encryption is a key part of X's vision for secure, integrated messaging. These upgrades are also expected to support eventual in-app payment capabilities, though timelines remain uncertain.

  • X Updates Community Notes to Prevent Contributor Coordination: X has upgraded its Community Notes system to detect and prevent coordinated manipulation by treating mass upvotes or downvotes from connected contributors as if they came from one person. This aims to counteract strategic suppression of notes by ideologically aligned groups and boost the credibility of the feature. Despite this, many informative notes still don't surface due to contributors failing to reach a bipartisan consensus.

Social media updates for TikTok

  • TikTok Launches AI-Powered Seller Assistant: TikTok has introduced the “Seller Assistant,” an AI-powered chatbot within its Seller Center, designed to support brands in optimizing their product listings. This tool provides real-time guidance and personalized recommendations, helping sellers maximize visibility and performance on the platform. As TikTok continues to enhance its commerce capabilities, the Seller Assistant is expected to be a valuable resource for brands looking to succeed in in-app selling.

  • TikTok Expands Mental Health Initiatives and Donations: TikTok is enhancing its mental health support features by introducing guided meditation and expanding its Mental Health Education Fund with a $2.3 million donation to 31 organizations. The guided meditation feature will help users unwind, particularly targeting teens with prompts for meditation in sleep hours. These initiatives aim to provide accessible mental health resources and support, showcasing TikTok’s commitment to user well-being.

  • TikTok Enhances Accessibility Features for Users: In celebration of Global Accessibility Awareness Day, TikTok has rolled out updates to improve inclusivity, including expanded alt-text options for photo posts and enhanced text presentation features. These additions aim to make the platform more usable for individuals with low vision and enhance the overall accessibility of TikTok. By continuously evolving its accessibility tools, TikTok seeks to foster a more inclusive environment for all users.

  • Reddit Explores AI and User Engagement: Reddit is taking steps to address concerns about AI's influence on user interactions following a backlash over an AI experiment that manipulated user opinions. CEO Steve Huffman emphasized the importance of maintaining community integrity while enhancing user privacy.

  • New Features in Reddit Pro Suite: Reddit has announced updates to its Reddit Pro suite, adding new analytics tools to help brands enhance their presence on the platform. The suite now includes an AI-powered business summary for profiles and the ability to reshare relevant community posts. These updates aim to provide brands with better insights and engagement opportunities, especially in English-speaking countries.

  • Reddit Reports Growth in Users and Revenue: Reddit has released its latest earnings report, revealing an increase to 108 million daily active users and significant revenue growth year-on-year. The platform has seen notable gains in international markets, particularly Brazil, attributed to enhanced machine translation tools. Despite these gains, Reddit remains heavily reliant on its U.S. user base for revenue and is focused on monetization strategies to strengthen its international presence.

Social media updates for Snapchat

  • Snapchat Report Highlights Tech's Impact on Shopping: Snapchat, in collaboration with Publicis Media and NRG, has released a report detailing how technology is transforming the shopping experience for consumers. The study reveals that 65% of Snapchat users find AI-powered styling guides helpful, while 63% appreciate AR lenses that reduce the need for physical store visits. With over 82% of Snapchatters relying on the app for fashion inspiration, the findings emphasize the importance of social media in driving purchase decisions.

  • Snapchat May Unpin My AI Chatbot from Chat Feed: Snapchat is considering unpinning its My AI chatbot from users' chat feeds based on engagement levels. Currently, the chatbot appears at the top of the chat list, which some users find intrusive. If users do not engage with the AI, it may soon disappear from view, giving users more control over their Snap experience.

  • Snapchat Introduces New Ad Options at NewFronts 2025: At the 2025 NewFronts, Snapchat unveiled several new advertising features, including AI-powered smart bidding and budget options to enhance campaign performance. The platform is also expanding its Sponsored Snaps feature, allowing brands to deliver promotions directly into user inboxes, and introducing a new music promotion initiative called "Under the Ghost." These updates aim to provide advertisers with more effective tools to reach their audiences and drive engagement.

The campaign will run across multiple countries and platforms, highlighting WhatsApp's dedication to secure communication.

Social media updates for YouTube

  • YouTube Enhances Monetization Review Process: YouTube is streamlining its content monetization review process to help creators monetize their videos faster and with fewer limitations. Videos initially flagged with a yellow dollar sign for limited ads will now automatically undergo a secondary review to improve accuracy, reducing the need for manual appeals. This change aims to expedite the review process, giving creators more confidence in their monetization status while potentially increasing available ad slots.

  • YouTube Introduces Quiz Stickers for Shorts: YouTube is rolling out a new quiz sticker feature for Shorts, allowing creators to engage their audience with customizable questions. This feature enables creators to evaluate viewer understanding and can inspire future content creation while providing insights into audience preferences. Additionally, voice replies are being expanded to Android users, enabling more personal interactions through audio responses to comments.
