Social Media Industry News- January 2023

Social Media Platform News and Updates for January 2023

The new month brings new updates for all social media platforms that marketers can't live without and consumers can't get enough of daily. As you're working to meet your client deadlines or finalize that new marketing campaign, check out these social media updates that will help you stay in the know of the new features and releases for crucial platforms.

Social media updates for LinkedIn

  • Add Auto captions feature will now include a [ON/OFF Toggle]. ❍ for ON (the default) or slide over for OFF. This solves the issue for Creators who uploaded videos with Open Captions (i.e., captions burned directly into the video), and then Auto captions created a double caption visual collision.

  • LinkedIn announces its new "Focused Inbox" format for InMail, which will reroute messages considered less valuable into an 'Other' tab. The purpose is to filter out the junk and highlight the most important outreach in the app. It's not clear how this will affect LinkedIn’s paid InMails and where they will end up, but I'm sure more info will unfold as the feature gets rolled out.

  • LinkedIn is rolling out a new feature that allows users to schedule posts to send at a later time, which is excellent news for those forking out for a separate post-scheduling app for the platform.

  • LinkedIn is upgrading analytics for creator profiles. Soon you’ll be able to see more demographic information about your audience, track follower growth over time and your top-performing posts. These analytics will answer the questions you should be asking about your success on LinkedIn. Are you reaching the right people, and which content resonates best with your audience?

  • Reddit launches a new Reddit for business website to offer more marketing advice. This offers a wealth of advice, suggestions, and notes for those considering purchasing Reddit ads.

  • There is an intriguing development taking place on Reddit. On a Reddit thread, you may now reply with an image. This extension of the Reddit reply culture now makes perfect sense because Reddit partnered with Giphy earlier this year to offer GIF responses.
